Tackle It Tuesday

I'm trying something new today that I found at 5 Minutes For Mom. The goal...exactly what you think. Find a project (big or small) that you haven't found time for and "tackle it".

So I did. I cleaned out the cabinets of the bathroom, tossed some old crap and rearranged things. I also cleaned the cupboard doors, took the faucet covers off and cleaned around the taps (everybody all together now....ewwwwwww). I also did something I've been dying to try...the old shaving foam on the mirror thing. Now I'm second guessing myself...was it foam or cream...I'm not sure if I did it right but hey who cares.

If you want to brag about your project check out the link below!

There Should Be A Law Against This!

Crap...crappity...crap...crap.

I knew as soon as I started I shouldn't have done it. There was a little voice in my head screaming at me to stop, but did I listen nooooooo. I have a good excuse, really I do. His hair was so long, and there were scissors RIGHT THERE. So I thought I would just snip a little off. Hmm....crooked...snip a bit more.

Still crooked but I know what will fix it! CLIPPERS!!!

Didn't fix.

Epic fail.

Well...

Those boxes are still sitting down there, in the dark. I picked my way through the chaos gingerly on my way to throw The Boy's diapers in the wash and I glanced in their direction. On my way back upstairs I paused and resigned myself to at least taking a box upstairs. I tromped over some bags and junk and finally looked into the first box. Ew. Dusty old dishes, nothing like a little tacky crockery to brighten your day. I bravely closed the lid and fled back upstairs to entertain myself with my laminator.

So here I am. Laying in bed and I can hear the spiders taunting me...from the depths of those boxes.

Aw well. Tomorrow is a new day. Maybe, just maybe I'll look in another box.

Ugh

I should really be downstairs sorting out the cess pool we call a basement. I'm not sure why we've kept so. much. stuff. Ugh. So I'm sitting here procrastinating the long walk down the stairs and trying to find a way to move a large heavy box upstairs so I don't have to stay downstairs in the dark, damp, cold basement.

So far, this is working just wonderfully. I've spent some time checking the news, watching tv, reading some blogs.

But I'm not going to be able to put this off much longer. *sigh* So soon I will drag my sorry self downstairs and poke through some boxes, worrying the entire time about spiders and other various creepy crawlies touching me or coming in my vicinity. So think of me some time this evening...possibly later depending on how long I can continue to fight the urge to organize.

BOO

Another beautiful sun shiny day here! I think I must be suffering from cabin fever. I really want to paint the kitchen. I'm tired of staring at white (okay whitish walls)...they're so unbelievably BLAH. Now all I need to do is convince Scott that this is something that needs to be done...or bribery...wait I'm broke...no bribery....damn.

MC has been feeding himself breakfast, in our painfully dull white kitchen. I don't know how he doesn't lose his appetite in our horrible white kitchen. So meal times are becoming a rather messy but fun time. Obviously he wears more food than he eats, but that's okay. The whole spoon to mouth thing is coming along for the most part...except when he misses, then not so much.

He's also discovered the game Peek a Boo. Fascinating stuff. Cover eyes, uncover eyes, cover eyes, uncover eyes. Yup, f-a-s-c-i-n-a-t-i-n-g. Over and over...cute stuff though. I'm his mom, I have to say that :P

Anticipation

It's that weird time of year. The winter is coming to a close and the clocks have changed, making the days seem longer.

Today the sun is shining brightly making spring seem not so far away. The huge slab of snow covering our grass says otherwise. I did see my first commercial for BBQ's today which reminded me that soon the boy and I will be able to walk the sidewalks freely. I won't have worry about his fingers and toes freezing off. And maybe, just maybe we may be able to venture outside to play!

Spring is so close I can almost taste it. The anticipation may nearly drive me crazy, and with more snow coming I can see myself gathered on my bed in the fetal position rocking while mumbling..."Snow, no more snow..."

The phone, the phone is ringing!!

We keep the tv on a lot here. Mostly so the dogs don't freak out about the snowflake rolling around on the driveway, or the random strangers that dare to walk on the sidewalk. For safety purposes I keep it on children's programming, I don't think watching autopsy or true crime shows is good for little boys!

I have to admit I do have my favourites, I think Pocoyo is awesome. From his little blue boots to his ear flap hat, I even love his military march of a walk. Love it. Thomas the Tank Engine, now that is the show that MC loves, he goes comatose when he watches it. So those we like....

And then there are the shows that just make you wanna run screaming from the house gouging your eyes out with plastic sand rake. There's this one with it's farting space ship...really I mean it, the thing farts as it flies. And then there's that Yo Gabba Gabba, I mean that's just...well bizarre. That one has some guy who dances badly while wearing an orange Grand Poobah hat while playing with dolls? Don't get it. And then we have The Wonder Pets! The phone, the phone is ringing...blech...moving on before that song gets trapped in my brain and knocks around for the day.

Now MC's favourite show...sigh....4 Squares. I'm not even going to talk about them...just watch them.

WTF? Wife Swap?

I don't watch this show, I hate reality shows, I understand the concept of finding two families that are polar opposites and switching moms. I get that. So I was looking around one of my favourite sites today and I came upon a little gem.

Christmas everyday? Come on, seriously?? This child is going to have a very rude awakening when she meets the real world. I would watch that, I really would.

Bummer

I spent a lovely afternoon honing my magnificent (by magnificent I of course mean...mediocre) crocheting skills. I'm going to be making a crochet hook case with this yummy yarn in New Splash. It is so pretty but I'm pretty sure it's frowned on to lick yarn, pretty sure...but not positive, so maybe I'll just rub my face in it.

So after several hours, yes HOURS, of very hard work I had to unravel my entire afternoon's work. Gah. So I guess I'll be attempting that again if I can get over the extreme disappointment of unravelling all that damn yarn.

Going out with Marikka, Deb and Kate this evening...well not going out....going to Deb's house for some pot luck Mexican and booze. Should be fun.
